Quintessential Thought
We've yet to work with a company or team that hasn't longed for more time, money, or effort. It's a common refrain we hear: "There’s too much work for us to do!"
Seth Godin offers a compelling challenge: "You don’t need more time. You need to decide."
In other words, there will never be enough time, money, or effort to fulfill every request and seize all available opportunities. The crucial step is making deliberate choices about where to focus.
If leaders neglect these pivotal decisions, both they and their teams will grapple with overwhelming circumstances, resulting in heightened stress, diminished quality, burnout, and retention challenges. Delegating overwhelm doesn’t work. 🙂
Quotes
“Overwhelm is, most often, a mindset. If you think about all the things you have to do, you'll be face down on the floor. It really helps to break it down into smaller pieces.” - Jen Sincero
“I'll never have enough time to paint all the pictures I'd like to.” - Norman Rockwell
”All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J. R. R. Tolkien
Quick Step
Identify one thing you won’t do or delegate, and then communicate your decision.
Question
How much is it costing you and your team to deal with overwhelm, stress, managing quality issues, attrition, and juggling a multitude of tasks?
