Get your week Unstuck! 4 Q’s of agile inspiration.
Thanks for taking the time to read our weekly newsletter to help you get Unstuck! Check us out every week for your dose of agile inspiration. We’re striving to keep the content in our 4 Q’s brief and powerful so you can get a lot of impact from a little reading!
Quintessential Thought
Assigning people to an initiative doesn’t magically make them a team. Without going through the stages of teaming, the results are like to stay at the surface level of task execution, lacking the collaboration and creativity that will foster high-value results.
The invitation toward teaming starts with a goal that draws people in a common direction, and continues with the creation of an environment in which people feel valued, supported, and motivated to work together.
Make no mistake, teaming can be challenging…and the rewards are significant - employee satisfaction and retention, team effectiveness, and product success.
Quotes
"A team is a group of people who work together to achieve a common goal. When everyone is working towards the same thing, it's a powerful thing." - John Wooden
"The best teams have a common goal, a clear vision, and a deep sense of trust." - John C. Maxwell
“Not finance. Not strategy. Not technology. It is teamwork that remains the ultimate competitive advantage, both because it is so powerful and so rare.” - Patrick Lencioni
Quick Step
Talk about teaming in your next retrospective, engaging the team in conversation about the Tuckman model (forming, storming, norming, performing). Where do people see the team and why? What step can you take to help the team progress?
Question
Where have you experienced the power of a team working on a compelling, common goal?
